Aspen Creek Park — located 2 miles south of Hood River — is the venue you have envisioned for your event, drop by and see for yourself. The creek lazily runs through the grounds, ending at the one acre event site, feeding into a trout filled pond. The aesthetic landscape design provides a wonderful backdrop, enhancing any event and offering many photo opportunities, There are flowering beds of Roses, Hydrangea, Weigelia, Sambucus, Physocarpus, Viburnum, Dogwood, Maple, Birch and of course ASPEN.
In addition to this one acre event site there is a five acre recreational grass area available, lying just across the creek, opening up to a great double mountain view of Mount Adams looking north, and Mount Hood looking south. This lawn area is open to all guests and can be used for kite flying, ultimate fribee, and games of all sorts. This space, as well as our playground, offer the perfect space for the younger crowd to safely run off a little of their energy and stay happy throughout the day.
Of course, most of us get concerned about planning an event outdoors in the Gorge. Not to worry, Aspen Creek Park is protected from the famous 'Gorge winds', with a beautiful 25 foot tall wind screen of Austrian Pines and Willows. This wind screen makes for the perfect shaded area for those sensitive to heat and sun, as do the party tents we set up.
For casual users, we have 15 picnic tables and 3 barbecues available at no extra cost. The parking area accommodates over 150 cars and 5-7 self contained RVs, and a staff of 2-3 will park cars and assist guests until 6 pm. Your hosts Steve and Judy Richter will also be available.
The maximum capacity is 300 guests per event - excluding caterers and staff. According to Hood River County ordinance, events must conclude by 10 pm.
